Platt Hall and Garden Open Day
Saturday 2nd April
11am - 4pm
Spring has definitely sprung, so we are having another open day at Platt Hall and Garden.
Join the Platt Hall Inbetween team, Dan, the gardener and artists to explore the Hall and Garden.
Here's what we have planned:
Inside the Hall
Opening the box
11 - 11.45am
12 - 12.45am
There are a lot of boxes of things at Platt Hall, some we know lots about and much we don't. As new parts of the Manchester art collection find their new home at Platt Hall, we would like to open some boxes with you. We will choose a box, open it and have a chat about what we find inside. Thinking about who tells stories and histories - how will your cultural heritage and life experiences inform what we think and know about these objects.
These short sessions are for adults and children over the age of 8.
Please book a place by emailing Meg Parnell
Walk the Dolls house street
2 - 2.45pm
3 - 3.45pm
There are some new arrivals at the Hall including a range of dolls houses. Have a look around a couple of rooms in the Hall with the Platt Hall team and see what you think.
Open to all ages - please book a place by emailing Meg Parnell
Make Space
2 - 4pm
A local artist or maker will be sharing their creative skills in a drop in workshop for all ages.
Drop in, no need to book.
Outside the Hall
Seed sewing and fountain restoration
11am - 4pm
Join Dan Thomson and plant some seeds - Nurture a seed in a pot and bring it back to the Hall later in the year for planting out. We will also start work on tidying up the Coronation fountain.
All tools provided.
Field Station : BioBlitz
11am – 1pm, drop in, no need to book
Join artist, Anthony Hall and his pop up resource, Field Station. What is living and crawling in the park? Take one square metre and investigate! There will be microscopes available to look close up and all the results of what we find will be logged throughout the morning. Field station’ is a mobile resource used for pop-up interventions that raise awareness about climate change and enhance perceptions of the unnoticed and sometimes invisible non-human inhabitants of the urban environment. http://antonyhall.net/blog/field-station/
Refreshments will also be available to buy so do come along to meet neighbours, explore the Hall and hopefully enjoy the sunshine!
